For over thirty years, Holiday Mansion has established itself as a leader in the larger cabin cruiser market. With over 3000 boats sold, Holiday Mansion hosts a worldwide market. The majority of Holiday Mansion sales are Coastal vessels since they provide luxurious condo amenities and the ability to handle rough waters. Characteristics like these make the Holiday Mansion perfect for exploring the local rivers, or the great loop route.
Near the end of 1999, Holiday Mansion was bought out by a Canadian group (Holiday Mansion International) which built a new state of the art facility in Albany, Kentucky. The facility was completed in 2002 producing 2003 year models. Holiday Mansion International produced boats until mid 2003 when experimentation with resins and fabrication delays forced to focus their efforts elsewhere.
In August 2004, for the 2005 Model year, Vanderbilt Yachts reopened the Kentucky facility. Vanderbilt Yachts took Holiday Mansion to the next level using the highest quality materials to achieve the highest quality product. By using the trained work force and proven manufacturing methods, Vanderbilt Yachts quickly obtained an extremely sound vessel which consultants refer to as “overbuilt”. Our no wood structure provides a strong one piece superstructure. The hull is permanently fiberglassed to the cabin creating the strongest superstructure possible. Our efforts were also focused on providing luxurious interiors which can be seen on our new DVD brochures. Our designs also incorporate spacious engine rooms and much care is taken for ease of operation and maintenance.
Still in production is the Barracuda hull. Originally designed and tested for the coastal waters of Florida for voyages to the Bahamas. This cathedral hull design takes its name from the bow sections which are the heart of the “outrigger” concept. The idea is to have parallel forms in the water plus buoyancy in the right places to promote tracking in steep seas. Essentially, the design incorporates a high chine on the outside above the water line from the bow to the stern with a uniform V-bottom of a fairly high dead rise. The hull incorporates deeply hooked chime deflecting the spray out and down to provide a dryer ride. Since this design reduces the jarring impact, and the hull built to withstand more, the crew can keep the throttle up longer through rougher waters. Compared to conventional V-bottom planing boats must be handled carefully when leaving the sheltered port. For steep seas can lead to ending up broadside to a wave or even rolling over due to little side control. The Barracuda hull design doesn’t stop there, just check out the nine inch keel for added stability. A side benefit is the expanded area available for interior layouts and a stable low center of gravity. This is the classic Super Barracuda, why choose anything else?
